Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino shared good news to Pangasinan State University (PSU) students on Affordable Higher Education for All Act of 2017 otherwise known as Senate Bill 1304 in a Public Forum held at PSU-Lingayen Convention Hall on March 24, 2017.

“In this mandate, meron pong libreng tuition fee ang mga nakaenroll sa ating State Universities and Colleges. […] About 12,000-peso tuition fee subsidy (per year) ang makukuha ng mga estudyante ng PSU,” said Sen. Aquino.

It can be recalled that Senate Bill 1304, which aims to provide for a tuition subsidy to students enrolled in state colleges and universities was already approved by the Senate of the Philippines last March 13 with an 18 over zero vote.

Under the said bill, all Filipino students who currently enrolled or will enroll in any state-run university or college can qualify for the tuition fee subsidy given that they completed the admission requirements of the SUC.

Sen Aquino also said that Affordable Higher Education for All Act is a landmark law. He stressed out that the investment for the said act will not just benefit the family of the student but also the society in general.

“As a student, of course, I am happy that finally we are near to freer education in the country. We can now study without worrying about our fees,” said Mikaela Sam Molavizar, II-BSEd English student.

Before Aquino’s talk, Aquino paid courtesy call to University President Dr. Dexter R. Buted along with the Vice Presidents; Dr. Gloria F. Domantay for Academic Affairs, Madam Maria Corazon B. Puzon for Finance and Resource Generation, Dr. Manolito C. Manuel for Research and Extension, and Dr. Virgilio C. Barongan for Administration.
