Discover what PSU-ACC can offer

Alaminos City, Pangasinan, is widely known to be the home of the world’s famous Hundred Islands. However, it has more to offer, especially honing students’ capabilities. Alaminos City Campus (ACC), one of the two campuses of Pangasinan State University (PSU) in Western Pangasinan (one in Infanta), is a fast-growing campus in terms of student-population – from 403 students in 2010 to 2,082 at present. PSU-ACC has a variety of bachelor’s degrees to offer and is facilitated by qualified and competent faculty members. Its operations started in 2010 with board and non-board programs. Back then, the campus offered board programs such as the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor in Secondary Education major in English (BSEd-English), and major in Mathematics (BSEd-Mathematics). For non-board programs, the campus had Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Operations Management (BSBA-OM).

Meanwhile, the College of Business Administration, under the deanship of Dr. Gloria M. Ducut, initiated a feasibility study for the offering of a new major field in the said college. The study showed an apparent demand for offering Financial Management as an additional major in BSBA. It was then proposed to the Academic Council and later approved by the Board of Regents (BOR) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Consequently, the BSBA major in Financial Management started in 2020.

A year later, through the concerted effort of faculty teaching Filipino courses under the stewardship of Mr. Elmer C. Diocares (Department Chairperson of the Secondary and Professional Education Department) and Dr. Christopher J. Cocal (College Dean of Teacher Education), conducted a feasibility study in the Division of Pangasinan I and Alaminos City Division. The study’s findings led the Campus to suggest to the BOR and CHED to offer a BSEd major in Filipino. Reasons for offering BSED Filipino include the shortage of Filipino major teachers and the demand for the program. This program was launched in 2021, with 14.29 percent of the total student population enrolled in BSEd courses.

Furthermore, the Campus will start to accommodate students for the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) program this incoming academic year of 2022-2023 in response to the request of senior high school students and to the growing demands of the tourism industry in Alaminos City, Pangasinan’s tourist hub. which implies that the institution must produce tourism professionals who can meet the region’s professional needs and assist the province’s tourism business. Without the unending support of Dr. Renato E. Salcedo, the former Campus Executive Director, the three programs mentioned earlier would be impossible.

Currently, the College of Teacher Education (CTE) and the College of Management and Technology (CMT) are the two colleges in the campus under the headship of Dr. Jenylyn V. Oboza, the 6th Campus Executive Director. The CTE offers Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) majors in English, Mathematics, and Filipino. The institution constantly produces licensed and qualified teachers equipped with the 21st-century teaching skills. On the other hand, the CMT comprises the following programs: Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management (BSHM), Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with majors in Operations Management and Financial Management.

Through the years, PSU-ACC has continuously touched and changed lives of people, making them productive and responsible citizens of this country.
