Consistently adhering with the University mandate of providing student services, Pangasinan State University โ€“ Alaminos City Campus (PSU-ACC) facilitates orientation of fifteen Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiaries on the conduct of their service in the said campus. Student Services coordinator, Prof. Elmer C. Diocares facilitated the said event and was presided by Mr. Mhel S. Gaspar, Labor Employment Officer III of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Alaminos branch at PSU-ACC Library on May 11, 2021.

The SPES aims to assist poor, but deserving, students and out-of-school youth to pursue their education by providing them income through employment. The program provides the youth with valuable experience for better school-to-work transition. Youth are employed for a minimum of 20 to a maximum of 52 working days where participating employers pay 60 percent of their salary while the DOLE pays the 40 percent share based on the applicable minimum wage in the area. (Social Protection Org, 2017). For PSU-ACC SPES beneficiaries, they were informed that they shall serve for 20 days in the said campus. The SPES beneficiaries were also made aware of their duties and responsibilities, their designated offices, and the date of the official start of their service which is on May 12, 2021.

Also present in the event is Campus Executive Director, Dr. Renato E. Salcedo and Guidance Counselor, Prof. Brandy Celino. PSU-ACC continues to take gigantic efforts to provide student services and ACComodate the needs of the students for undergraduate work experience and at the same time help them in pursuing their studies by providing them additional income through employment.
