PSU Caboloan Performing Arts Guild (CPAG) made it again in the international scene as it bagged a silver medal in the 5th Vietnam International Choir Competition on June 5-11.

This victory followed the gold medal brought home by the Group last 2016 in the 5th Bali International Choir Festival that marked their first international stage appearance.

CPAG enthralled the spectators in Vietnam with the battle pieces ‘Ang Tren’, ‘Tuksuhan’, and the ‘Pater Noster’ that made them accomplished the silver in the Mixed Choir Category.

Along with the CPAG that represented the country in the said competition were La Salle Chorale Group and Colegio San Agustin Makati Chorale Group. The three Philippine groups showcased their exceptional singing prowess to the other nine competing countries composed of Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Twelve groups from the said participating countries were qualified for gold, while eighteen groups landed with silver.

Dr. Romary R. Lincod, Director for Culture and the Arts, said that the PSU community is very proud that the group managed to win the silver even with members who are mostly neophytes.

Dr. Lincod also shared that the Chorale Group undergone daily practice right after their classes from Mondays to Saturdays in preparation for the event.

The Chorale Group was powerhoused by sixteen students and three faculty members with the guidance of Dr. Lincod and Dr. Ramil L. Dacal. Their performance was conducted by Rruby Keith S. Sison, and Michael L. Lopez.

For 2018, the CPAG is in preparation for another two international participations such as the Singapore International Choral Festival and India International Dance Congress. The latter aims to promote the country’s culture through dance.
