No less than Pangasinan State University was featured by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Pangasinan unit at their morning live series “KAPIHAN” hosted by Ms. Venus Sarmiento.

This KAPIHAN episode highlighted the university’s ICT Konek project- wherein PSU had successfully partnered with 26 municipalities in Pangasinan to provide learning spaces with ICT facilities to students.

Said event was arranged by the Public Relations, Publication and Information OFfice (PRPIO) led by Prof. Celeste Mercado at the Dr. Telesforo Boquiren Convention Hall on October 22. It was attended by University President Dr. Dexter R. Buted together with the Vice Presidents, Campus Executive Directors (CEDs) and their respective ICT Konek Representatives.

“Part of the key strategy for good governance of Pangasinan State University- PRPIO is to conduct a press conference to inform the public of our initiatives in implementing the new normal. One of the best practices of our university is its linkages and partnership with the Local government Units (LGUs) which paved way for the launching of the ICT Konek”  said Prof. Mercado.

Local media partners such as Bombo Radyo, DWIZ, Net25 and DWIN were invited to interview the university officials.

“In this ‘KAPIHAN’, we can spread the good news to the people that we are at the right track doing our best in order to support the academic standing of our students. That way, we can help one another ease the troubled minds of our people and make them feel that the government through the Pangasinan State University is in control of ensuring that their dreams about their future is still possible” stated by Dr. Buted as he welcomed the media partners.

VP for Academic Affairs and Support Services Dr. Manolito Manuel presented the problems and solutions in the implementation of flexible learning in the university. Among those issues were the internet connectivity, gadget acquisition of students, digital literacy on the Learning Management System (Microsoft Teams), and mobile data load.

CEDs Dr. Lorna Urbiztondo and Dr. Valentin Calpo also supported the statements of Dr. Manuel on the challenges in the flexible learning journey. They also added the technological advancements and instruction methods of their respective campuses to resolve the raised concerns.

Other PSUnian officials such as Web Administrator Dr. Randy Ventayen also participated online by posting their additional insights in the comment section of the live video.

At the end of the session, the university officials thanked Ms. Sarmiento and all the media partners for their support to the institution for making this significant event possible.
