Nine PSU students who made way to represent their respective campuses as finalists for the “Gawad Parangal para sa mga Natatanging Mag-aaral ng PSU” courageously faced with pride the panel of evaluators and the PSU community in the recently held public forum last March 24, 2017 at the PSU Convention Hall.

Student finalists were challenged as they spoke out their ideas on different topics and shared their inspiring stories that win the heart of the PSU community.

The public forum was conducted for the first time since the gawad parangal was started in 2015. It aimed to attest the public speaking prowess of the student finalists with the following criteria: ability to present/clarify/articulate ideas (45%); manifestation of critical thinking skills (20%), linguistic competence (15%), self-confidence (10%), and personal appearance (10%).

There were two questions given per student finalist from the panel of evaluators and one question from the student body.

This year’s finalists are: Kevin L. Tejada (Alaminos City), Pamela Glydel P. Padilla (Asingan), Krishna Mae C. Danzil (Bayambang), Ciara Mae B. Eom (Binmaley), Cherrie Dianne M. Mila (Infanta), Mohamed Ardaniel C. Swandi (Lingayen), Mark Carlo D. Austria (San Carlos City), Alvera S. Balmores (Sta. Maria), and Ethel G. Panello (Urdaneta City).

To judge their performances in the said public forum, the following were the invited members of the panel of evaluators: Dr. Danilo B. Bose (Education Supervisor Specialist), Mr. Rommel S. Rivera (Senior Human Resource Specialist of CSC Lingayen Field Office), Mr. Aldrin O. Soriano (Municipal Councilor of Mangaldan), Mr. Vijay Vasandani (President of JCI Dagupan Bangus), and Ms. Anecita C. Penney (President of Rotary Club of Lingayen).

Meanwhile, academic and co-curricular performances, and result of the forum as per verdict of the panel of evaluators, were among the set criteria for the accumulation of student finalists’ standings for the title “Pinakanatatanging Mag-aaral ng PSU” with the pointing system of 50%, 30%, and 20%, respectively.

The unveiling of this year’s “Pinakanatatanging Mag-aaral ng PSU” is set on April 04, 2017 to be held at the PSU Convention Hall.
