Highlighting the importance of research and extension in achieving the University’s vision and mission, two faculty members of the College of Teacher Education of Pangasinan State University Alaminos City Campus presented their papers at the 3rd International Congress in Multidisciplinary Research Online organized by Asian Intellect Organization last February 12 to 13, 2021.
Prof. Jocelyn S. De Vera, also the Campus Coordinator for Extension, presented her paper entitled “Awareness and Effects of Extension Services on the Adopt-a-Day Care School Program” while Mr. Gerald Navida, BSEd Mathematics program adviser, discussed his paper on the “Status and Trends of Teacher Education Board Performance of Pangasinan State University Alaminos City Campus. ”
The opening program was conducted on February 12 in the morning while the paper presentations for the first track were showcased in the afternoon session. Paper presentations resumed the next day, February 13. The awarding of certificates followed immediately after the last presentation.
Prof. De Vera gave emphasis on one of the major functions of higher education institutions, which is extension and community outreach. In her study, the importance of communicating and transferring knowledge to the adopted barangays of the University was emphasized. She added that her paper underscored the importance of extensionists, local government units, non-government organizations, and students to the extension activities in the adopted barangays.
On the other hand, Mr. Navida’s research determined the status and trends of the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) performance of teacher education graduates which analyzed the effectiveness of the Campus in the context of quality and relevant curriculum. This study will serve as a basis for policy-making such as establishing thorough in-house reviews, strict screening process, and retention policy.
“The success of a research presentation is judged not by the knowledge you transmit but what the listeners gain”, Mr. Navida added.
