The Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) Department of Pangasinan State University โ€“ Alaminos City Campus successfully concluded a two-day extension project training entitled โ€œEnhancing Personality and Customer Relations of Boatmen in Alaminos Cityโ€ on September 18-19, 2024. This program was created to provide participants with a series of lectures and hands-on presentations to update their knowledge, allowing them to adapt to changes and effectively apply what they have learned.

The event commenced with welcome remarks from Dr. Pauleen Mae Camba, the Department Chairperson of HTM, followed by an inspirational message from Mr. Miguel Sison, the City Tourism Officer. Their words set a positive and encouraging tone for the dayโ€™s activities.

Mr. Arnulfo A. Gutierrez highlights the importance of personal grooming and includes practical activities to help boatmen present themselves professionally. On the other hand, Ms. Merjulyn P. Atiga discussed the proper attire at work, and participants learned about appropriate work attire, emphasizing the significance of dressing suitably to enhance their professional image.

Following is the talk on the proper way to deal with customers; Dr. Pauleen Mae N. Camba provided valuable insights into effective customer service techniques, helping boatmen improve their interactions with clients.

The training was a resounding success, equipping boatmen with essential skills to provide better service and create a more professional and welcoming environment for tourists and locals alike. This initiative marks a significant step towards improving the tourism experience in Alaminos City.
