The Pangasinan State University, Alaminos City Campus conducts Conversations Over Coffee (COC) every last Monday of the month starting on February 22, 2021 to make people and leaders partners in achieving the University’s Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives (VMGOs); establish open communication between leaders and people; help increase trust in leaders; engage people in decision-making and make them feel that their contributions are valued; and help leaders evaluate and improve their performance.
Through the Office of the HR Coordinator, this activity is anchored on the principles of Leading, Supporting, and Improving in the Investors in People (IiP) 6th Generation Framework. As IiP Silver Level awardee, the Campus pledges to uphold these principles for the good of its people and the University in general. Adamant on this pledge, the Campus continuously seeks new ways and takes bold steps that will improve people management.
After each conversation, an evaluation is conducted every third week of the month to monitor any significant change in the people management of leaders in the Campus using a five-point Likert scale. The results of the evaluation are presented to the leaders in the next conversation. Intervention programs are designed to address unsolved issues and concerns arising from the conversations.
Through the COC, PSU-ACC commits to forge healthier and happier work environment. Leaders in any organization play a vital role in ensuring that this kind of work environment is realized. Thus, the COC provides people with the proper venue where they could freely and fearlessly give their comments about how they are managed.
