Alaminos City Campus, through its Gender and Development (GAD) Unit, in collaboration with the Research and Extension Services Unit, successfully launched the Adopt a Barangay Project in Sitio Olanen, Brgy. Dacap Sur, Bani, Pangasinan on March 27, 2025. This initiative focused on gender-responsive community engagement and development and aimed to empower and educate the rural community through several sessions.
Outlining the activity’s objectives, Dr. Jocelyn De Vera, Extension Coordinator, stated the purpose of the activity in her opening remarks, followed by a message from Dr. Rosario DL. Valencerina, Campus Executive Director.
Ms. Zarah Jane B. Anuddin, GAD Coordinator, raised awareness about gender equality and promoted gender-sensitive practices in her talk on gender and development orientation. Following this session, Dr. Ellen Grace B. Ugalde, Dean of the College of Teacher Education, shared necessary information and resources on family planning. Subsequently, to enhance income-generating opportunities for the participants, Dr. Carlo Genster Camposagrado, Dean of the College of Management and Technology, and Mr. Raymond Platon highlighted livelihood skills in their session. Meanwhile, in their talk, Mr. Ruissan Ramos, ICTMO Coordinator, and Mr. Marino Bartolome emphasized digital marketing strategies.
To inspire the empowered women of the community, Dr. Chenee Marie C. Cacho, Chairperson of the Secondary and Professional Education Department, and Dr. Jenylyn V. Oboza, English Senior Faculty, shared their personal stories of how they, as ordinary women, navigate challenges and ultimately achieved success.
Alongside the inspiring sessions, CTE Faculty members Mr. Paul Pamo, Ms. Sixiane Kim Recepcion, Mr. Lord Calumm Ocuaman, Mr. Fidel Manaol Jr., Dr. Levi Jethro Balgua, and Mr. Ricardo G. Salazar Jr. prepared an interactive learning engagement among the daycare learners, providing stimulating environment to support their holistic growth.
The event concluded with an open forum, evaluation, and awarding of certificates, followed by closing remarks from Dr. Agerico F. Oboza, Campus Administrative Officer.
