The Pangasinan State University Alaminos City Campus Library successfully concluded the 34th Library and Information Services (LIS) Month celebration with a lively and engaging closing program with the theme “LibVocacy: Unity Towards Empowered and Inclusive Libraries,” the event showcased the creativity, inclusivity, and collaborative spirit of the campus community.

The program began with uplifting Opening Remarks from Ms. Shella Marie I. Diocares, Dean of Student and Alumni Affairs, who emphasized libraries’ essential role in fostering equity and empowerment. The day’s highlight was the final contest, the Book Character Contest, where students embodied iconic figures from Greek Mythology, where Lawrence Cardenas from BSE English emerged as the Champion for his striking portrayal of Medusa.
Shanelle Irish A. Bito from BSE Math secured 1st Runner-Up as Nike, followed by Iesen Beau Dela Cruz from BSBA as Artemis, who claimed 2nd Runner-Up. Jay Mar B. Sion from BSE Filipino rounded out the winners, earning 3rd Runner-Up for his depiction of Apollo.

Meanwhile, the Book Face Photo Contest celebrated the creativity of Gwynn Hyl B. Pansoy from BSE Math, who took the champion title, with Gabriel C. Nebran from BSE English as 1st Runner-Up, Jennie Mae L. Villanueva from BSE Filipino as 2nd Runner-Up, and Fauleen N. Nening from BSIT as 3rd Runner-Up.

In the Book Hunt Bingo, winners included Kiah Mae Nicole S. Lupo, Jeff C. Barroga, and Lovelin Joy B. Caracas from I-BSBA-FM; Joanna Ferrer from II-BSBA-FM; and Kyla S. Castaรฑeda from III-BEED-A, showcasing their keen library navigation skills.

The event’s Board of Judgesโ€”Ms. Maribeth Rabina, Ms. Princess V. Galanta, and Dr. Agerico F. Obozaโ€”were lauded for their expertise and fair evaluations.
The day concluded with a heartfelt message from Mr. Joseph Gerald C. Garce, Campus Librarian, who thanked all participants, organizers, sponsors, and attendees for their support. He encouraged everyone to continue championing advocacy, inclusion, and empowerment within the library community.

The 34th LIS Month celebration ended on a high note, leaving a lasting impression of creativity and unity. As LibVocacy resonates beyond this month, the PSU library remains a beacon of knowledge, inclusivity, and innovation.
