Pangasinan State University, Alaminos City Campus, held a heartfelt send-off event today, October 27, to honor Prof. Rene D. Cacho’s remarkable 42 years of service. Held in the Audio Visual Room, the room brimmed with anticipation despite the gloomy afternoon.

The program commenced with a prayer led by Prof. Brandy N. Celino, the Campus Guidance Counselor. Dr. Christopher J. Cocal, the President of the Campus Faculty Association, delivered the opening remarks. He welcomed everyone with a warm smile and drew inspiration from the Bible, emphasizing that retirement marked a new chapter in Sir Rene’s life, not a conclusion.

Colleagues and friends shared touching messages about Sir Rene. Ma’am Amalia Ancheta fondly remembered their shared experiences and described Sir Rene as a kind and helpful man. Sir Kassel Kate Dale Cadelina expressed gratitude through a heartfelt poem. Sir Melchor Tugade, a long-time colleague, expressed his appreciation for their collaboration. Mr. Ace John Liwanag, President of the University Faculty Association, also graced the event and he praised Sir Rene as a caring father figure at PSU.

The event featured intermission numbers, with non-teaching staff showcasing their dance talents; and teaching staff offering musical performances. Sir Rene’s family also made a special appearance. His son, Dr. Renee Christopher Cacho, shared a touching message of pride, while Dr. Chenee Marie Cacho, daughter- in-law of Sir Rene, facilitated the “RDC (Rene D. Cacho) Game.” His only granddaughter added charm with a cute song and dance number.

Dr. Jenylyn V. Oboza, the Campus Executive Director, expressed her gratitude for Sir Rene’s generosity towards PSU, followed by the presentation of a plaque of appreciation. Sir Rene’s farewell message resonated deeply: “I really hate to leave, but I must.”

In closing, Dr. Agerico Oboza, the Administrative Officer, expressed gratitude to all participants and event organizers. The gathering concluded on a high note, with attendees enjoying a delectable feast.

Pangasinan State University, Alaminos City Campus, will undoubtedly feel the absence of Sir Rene D. Cacho and wish him happiness and good health in his well-deserved retirement.
